Mark Fukuhara founded remarkable. in Tokyo in 2013.

Raised in Vancouver, Canada and Californian influences in a Japanese entrepreneurial family, he grew up around businesses involving banking, investment and asset management, IT, skincare, international trade, property operations, renovation, and rental management. He studied developmental and educational psychology alongside substantial work in the sciences, and ran a private education business in Vancouver before moving to Tokyo in 2012.

The original plan was to remain in Japan for approximately one year. Instead, early work in English and international communication developed into long-term relationships with companies, executives, specialist professionals, founders, and families.

Clients increasingly asked Mark to work on the decisions, documents, relationships, systems, and commercial realities behind the communication. remarkable. expanded accordingly - from a communication-focused practice into a broader advisory and execution partner.

Today, Mark works directly with clients across leadership and management, pharmaceutical, legal and intellectual-property communication, procurement, market entry, business development, investor and sponsor communications, e-commerce, digital marketing, public relations, AI-enabled workflows, career strategy, education, relocation, translation/transcreation, cross-border project execution, and joint ventures.

His approach is research-informed, highly contextual, and practical. He asks detailed questions, studies unfamiliar subject matter, challenges assumptions when needed, and connects issues that are often treated separately.

He draws on credible business and management research, scientific evidence, experienced practitioners, and continuing feedback from clients and specialists. Ideas are not applied mechanically; their value depends on the people, culture, evidence, constraints, and objectives involved.

The goal is not simply to provide an answer. It is to improve the quality of the client’s thinking, strengthen the decision, and make the next stage easier to execute.
